Mikel Arteta claims there has been ‘no time’ to prepare for Arsenal’s game against Leeds United

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says ‘there’s no time’ to prepare for their game against Leeds United after their Europa League endeavors on Thursday.

The Gunners made it three wins from three in the Europa League with victory over Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt on Thursday night, and travel up to Elland Road to face Leeds United on Sunday with the hope of remaining top of the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta’s men faced the unenviable task of flying back to London from Norway on Friday, before heading up to Leeds the following day, the Spaniard bemoaning the lack of preparation his team are able to have after playing on Thursday nights.

‘There’s no time,’ Arteta said. ‘We give them ideas, some videos, get them active, recover them well and that’s it, not much.

‘We have to travel there, back to London, and back to Leeds. We’ll have an activation session on Saturday, but a training session? It’s not possible.’

Leeds under Jesse Marsch are currently unbeaten at home this season and sit in fourteenth place in the Premier League. But despite their lacklustre position in the table, Arteta is adamant his side will have a difficult time at Elland Road, wary that they will have to be at their best to get a result against the hosts.

They will be eager to pick up three points against Jesse Marsch’s side to stay top of the table

‘A really good team when there’s space to attack. What Jesse (Marsch) has done there in the time he’s been there has been really impressive.

‘Mentally and physically it’s going to be a battle. We know how intense it’s going to be, the crowd that they have, it’s going to be a challenge and we’re going to have to be at our best to win there.’

Victory for Arsenal would see them remain top of the Premier League, whilst a win for Leeds would see them move into the top half of the table.

Gabriel Jesus remains a doubt for the Gunners after picking up a knock in last week’s victory against Liverpool, with no timeframe put on a return for Oleksandr Zinchenko.
