microsoft: Microsoft rebrands Your Phone app, adds new features and design; misses support for Apple iPhone – Times of India

Since the launch of Windows 11 operating system last year, Microsoft has redesigned its native apps with new design and features. After Notepad, Paint, Photos and other apps, Microsoft has announced that it is revamping the Your Phone app as Phone Link. For those unaware, Microsoft launched the Your Phone app some three years ago. The app allows Android smartphone users to access the photos and texts in smartphones from their PC. It even allows users to receive phone calls and use mobile apps.
What’s new in the Phone Link app
Microsoft is introducing a new user interface for the app that brings notifications upfront. The app also gets new tabbed navigation. The controls, color palette, and overall look of the app too is updated to match Windows 11 OS. The design changes in the app include rounded corners, fresh illustrations and updated iconography. With the next update of Windows 11, users will also be able to set-up Phone Link during the set up with their new PC via QR code.
Apart from this, the company has also announced that it has partnered with Honor to bring the Phone Link feature. The app will now be compatible with Honor Magic V, Magic 4 series and Magic 3 series devices. More devices will be added in the coming months. Recently, in partnership with Samsung, Microsoft made it easier for users to launch apps they were using on their phones and continue using them on the PC.
Again, no support for iPhones
It was expected that Microsoft will also add support for Apple iPhone in the Phone Link app, however, the tech giant has not announced any plans about this.
Microsoft will also reportedly add new Smart Clipboard and Smart Actions features with the upcoming Windows 11 update. As per a report by WindowsLatest, the tech giant will introduce a support for the new features with Windows 11 version 22H2 or Sun Valley 2. The features are said to offer a new way to paste content between the apps.
