Miami Dolphins ‘sign former Bengals cornerback Eli Apple to a one-year deal’ in the aftermath of Jalen Ramsey’s injury

The Miami Dolphins have signed their replacement for the injured Jalen Ramsey – inking a one-year deal with cornerback Eli Apple, according to multiple reports.

Apple has spent the last few seasons in Cincinnati – where he totaled two interceptions and 73 solo tackles across 31 games for the Bengals.

Ramsey recently underwent surgery to completely repair a torn meniscus that he suffered in practice – which will likely keep him out until December.

Apple was drafted by the New York Giants in the 2016 NFL Draft with the tenth overall pick out of Ohio State.

He then went on to play with the New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers before moving to Cincinnati.

This signing will now create an interesting dynamic within the locker room – especially concerning the relationship between Apple and wide receiver Tyreek Hill. 

Last year, Hill called out Apple prior to a Thursday Night Football matchup in Ohio.

‘I can’t wait to go against Eli Apple. I owe you, boy. I owe you. I’m here. The Cheetah is here,’ Hill said – referring to his ‘Cheetah’ nickname.

Hill already previewed how the training camp may go, tweeting out ‘[Happy tears in eyes emoji] Monday practice gone be fun.’

Ramsey saw the tweet and replied with several crying emojis, adding, ‘y’all play nice out there’.
