Cristiano Ronaldo was taunted with chants about his rival Lionel Messi by opposition fans ahead of Al-Nassr’s Saudi Super Cup semi-final defeat to Al-Ittihad.

The 37-year-old superstar failed to score his first goal for the Saudi side again, after also blanking on his official debut on the weekend.

Ronaldo was a peripheral figure in Al-Nassr’s defeat and footage has emerged of the Al-Ittihad fans chanting ‘Messi, Messi, Messi’.

Ronaldo endured a frustrating evening, failing to open his account for Al-Nassr as his side crashed out of the Saudi Super Cup

The former Manchester United star almost opened his account for Al-Nassr with a powerful close-range header but he was denied by a smart save.

Ronaldo has managed just one shot on target across both appearances for Al-Nassr.

And now, the Portuguese star, who has been treated like royalty since making his sensational move to the Middle East, has to contend with chants about his rival.

It comes after Ronaldo and Messi met for what may have been the last time at the iconic King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh last week.

Messi’s touring PSG side faced a Saudi All-Star XI – which Ronaldo captained – in a glamour friendly.

It was Messi’s PSG who came out on top 5-4 – with the Argentine netting within a few minutes. However, Ronaldo triumphed on a personal level, firing in a brace on his debut in Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo is yet to score in Al-Nassr colours and he will be hoping that he can change that soon.

The Portugal striker completed his outrageous £175m-a-year move to Al-Nassr at the end of December following a bitter end to his Man United career.
