But Fox’s latest look is a bit more fashion-minded than her sexy red carpet style. Knwls isn’t an underground brand, but it is a segue into IYKYK, fashion girl territory. Some of the London label’s lovers include Bella Hadid and Kim Kardashian. Fox’s most recent post reminds me of the time when the aforementioned Kardashian strutted out to get snacks at a gas station back in 2017 while wearing an Eckhaus Latta skirt. This wasn’t the label’s most well-known piece of clothing–simple, dark green, with an oval cutout on the waist–and it could have easily been mistaken for another designer, but it resonated with people who did know what it was. Her sister Kourtney’s choice to wear JNCO-style jeans by Vaquera in 2019 provoked a similar reaction.
It feels like Fox is entering her fashion It girl phase thanks to the infusion of these smaller labels. In the past, we’d see her on her largely inactive Instagram promoting Frederick’s of Hollywood lingerie, and wearing standard bombshell fare on red carpets. Now, she’s frequently wearing smaller labels–most likely with the help of her stylist–mixed in with her love for Versace and Dolce & Gabbana. Her fiancé is also constantly pushing the limits of what he wears, and I’m sure that rubs off on Fox. Reilley, who started working with Fox in November of 202o, leans into Fox’s daring sensibilities, as well. “For Megan, I am always looking for edgy, interesting pieces—things that not everyone would wear. She’s willing to take risks and try things that are outside of the box,” she writes to Vogue. “We have so much fun with fashion. [The Knwls outfit] is a look that we know not everyone would try to pull off which is why it is so perfect for her.”
Fox has been infusing lesser-known labels into her wardrobe since late last year. In December, she opted for a saucy red cardigan and skirt courtesy of Jacquemus, and in January, she opted for a curve-skimming Dion Lee set. With that Robert Aeiner suit she wore back in late February, which she described as “business casual Bratz doll,” she carried an orange bow-shaped cellulose handbag by the perverse-chic label Forbitches by Gio Forbice. (Dua Lipa, who has a long history of wearing stellar, oddball designs, is a fan of the brand).
