Pakistan scripted history on Sunday (October 24) as they defeated India by 10 wickets to register their first victory against India in World Cup after facing defeat in 12 World Cup games.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam led from the front and hit a stroke-filled 68 runs to help his side record a memorable win. Before the high-voltage clash, it was predicted that India would defeat Pakistan but Babar Azam’s father Azam Siddiqui was confident that his son would lead the team to victory. Sitting in the Dubai International Stadium, Babar’s father Azam Siddiqui was praying for his son and Pakistan. Babar’s father broke down in tears after Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets.
Pakistani sports journalist Mazhar Arshad has posted a video of Babar’s father on his Twitter account and this video has now gone viral on social media. In the video, Babar’s father Azam Siddiqui can be seen crying with happiness after Pakistan’s victory. Mazhar Arshad also mentioned in his caption that Babar’s father told him in 2012 that let Babar make his debut for Pakistan and then he will shine as a cricketer.
“This was the team’s effort, and the early wickets were very helpful. Shaheen’s wicket gave us a lot of confidence and our spinners were very good as well. We applied our plans and got the results. We, the openers, kept it simple and built a partnership and because the wicket was getting better so we just wanted to keep batting till the end, which we did,” Pakistan skipper Babar said after the match.
