‘Mast thodi der so jaata hun’: Steve Smith’s viral pic of lying on the ground inspires hilarious memes
Delhi Capitals (DC) made one change at the top of the order bringing in star Australian batter Steve Smith in place of an injured Prithvi Shaw against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Smith played a decent hand of 39 runs off 34 balls but along with the heat of Sharjah, he had to bear a lot more things on Tuesday.
The incident took place on the first ball of the 13th over of Delhi’s batting innings, bowled by Lockie Ferguson. It was a slower delivery from the Kiwi pacer and Smith premeditated the scoop shot but didn’t get his timing right and an inside edge went straight onto his inner thigh.
Grimacing in pain, Smith lied flat on the ground while he waited for the time to heel his wounds.
Smith got up a couple of minutes later, but to his bad luck he got out the next ball just when he was looking to take off but it never happened for the Capitals innings as they ended up scoring just 127 runs in their 20 overs and lost the game by three wickets.
Smith’s image of lying on the ground went viral as it inspired hilarious reactions from people looking at their life choices to suggesting Smith was looking at Joe Root in ICC Test Rankings, to him thinking of getting a short nap due to fatigue and heat. Here are some of the reactions:
