Mark Your Calendars! Agua Bendita, Fe Noel, and Rhode’s Collabs for Target Arrive on Saturday
It’s been two decades since Target launched its inaugural designer collaboration and yet, the retailer continues to pump out bold declarations of style that make high-end fashion accessible. The latest collection? A summer getaway-worthy drop of pieces designed by three all-star powerhouse women-run labels, including Agua Bendita, Fe Noel, and Rhode. While each brand maintains its own perspective, the one thing they all have in common is bringing together colorful, wearable clothing that feels just as at home during a jet-setting vacation as it does while sitting poolside or running errands. The range includes everything from maxi dresses and swimsuits to sunglasses and beach bags—all available starting April 15.
In total, the designers created over 100 pieces, all priced at $15-$48, with most items $35 and under. The focus, of course, is on spring style and sunny wardrobe staples that transport. Take, for instance, Aqua Bendita’s printed cover-ups, such as the Dainty Floral Print Pareo. “The lightweight cotton blend fabric and dainty floral patterns make them the perfect item to take from beach to street,” the label’s co-founder Catalina Álvarez tells us. Since its inception in 2003, Aqua Bendita co-founders Mariana Hinestroza and Catalina Álvarez, both from Medellín, Colombia, have been creating flowery bohemian swimsuits, dresses, and skirts that take inspiration from their roots. “The collection is inspired by Colombia, the power of femininity, and all the flowers, colors, and natural beauty found throughout our culture. Our handmade prints emulate Colombia’s tropical weather and can be found in each of the pieces,” Álvarez adds.
That same personal approach to designing also came second nature to Felisha Noel, of Fe Noel, when thinking about the partnership. Deep within her offering for Target is a strong sense of color and Caribbean heritage, reflected in the swimsuits covered in palm fronds and the colorfully striped pants. “I am known for my fiery prints and bold colors,” Noel tells us. “With this collection, it was important for me to bring pops of color and prints in the same impactful way.” Noel’s personal favorite piece? The Feathered Palm Printed Cover-Up Dress, designed to be worn as an on-the-go cover-up, but also as a transformative look for a night out–just the sort of ideal piece to pack for spring and summer travels. “We tapped into my Caribbean roots using vibrant prints and colors reminiscent of the infamous Carenage landscape in Grenada. It was important to reference my family’s homeland on such a large stage. This is part of my life’s work.”
Rhode, known for its playful, bright dresses and knack for nailing color, even delved into an entirely new category for the occasion. For the first time, the brand is launching swimwear through the collaboration, alongside dresses, towels, and bags, inspired by some of co-founders Purna Khatau’s and Phoebe Vickers’s favorite travel destinations of all time. “We’ve always been inspired by the beauty of cultures throughout the world, but for this collection, we leaned into our roots, and drew inspiration from India,” Khatau tells us. “From the vibrancy of color to traditional motifs and block printing techniques, we really wanted to celebrate India for this collaboration.” The two-piece sets are also designed for poolside moments or total integration into any summer wardrobe. “They feel extremely quintessential to Rhode, can be dressed up or down and mixed and matched a few ways,” she adds. The best part is that all three collections look perfectly cohesive as a vacation capsule wardrobe. Packing for that trip has never been easier.
Shop the entire collection from April 15 on Target.com and in select stores, but be fast—Target’s designer collabs always go quickly.
“We hope the collection inspires people to dress for the fun they want to have,” says Rhode co-founder Purna Khatau.
“We wanted to make sure that our Target collection stayed true to what we are known for and offer in our core resort collection; easy yet bold silhouettes that would look amazing while traveling,” adds Felisha Noel.
“This collection is the culmination of our culture and inspiration,” says co-founder Catalina Álvarez.
