The Seattle Mariners and Atlanta Braves will wrap up a three-game interleague series on Sunday afternoon. With each team taking a game, Sunday’s matinee showdown will serve as the rubber match.
George Kirby (2.45 ERA) will take on Jared Shuster (7.24 ERA) in today’s pitching matchup.
Let’s dive into the odds for the game and then I’ll give you my best bet.
Mariners vs. Braves odds, run line, and total
Mariners vs. Braves prediction and pick
I expect plenty of offense this matchup, so I’m going to back the OVER in this interleague rubber match.
No offense in baseball has been as hot as the Braves in the month of May. Through the first three weeks this month, the Braves lead the Majors in OPS with a mark of .821. So, despite them taking on one of the better pitchers in the American League this season in Kirby, I have no doubt they’ll be able to produce some runs.
On the other side of things, the Mariners offense may not be as hot as the Braves, ranking 18th in OPS in May, but they get to take on a struggling pitcher in Shuster.
Shuster has allowed at least three earned runs through his first three starts in the Majors. Until he’s able to figure out how to successfully pitch against Major League bats, we can bank on him allowing at least a few runs in his starts.
Let’s sit back and root for runs in this one.
