Margot Robbie’s Latest Vintage Look Was Originally Worn By Kate Moss in the 1990s
Margot Robbie has been leaning into the “method dressing” trend during the press tour for her hotly anticipated Barbie movie, taking cues from her Mattel doll character’s famous looks. So far, we’ve seen her wear a custom pink polka-dot minidress by Valentino, which referenced a look from the brand’s spring 1993 collection, worn by supermodel Karen Mulder, who was dubbed the “real-life Barbie”. This week, we also saw her wear a vintage Chanel blazer that was originally worn by Claudia Schiffer on the spring 1996 runway.
Now, Robbie has paid tribute to another ’90s super with her latest look. On the Sydney stop of the Barbie promo tour, the actor sported a pink Versace turtleneck jumper and matching metallic miniskirt that Kate Moss originally wore on the catwalk during the Italian fashion house’s fall 1994 show. Finishing off the look? A pair of white girlish heels and pink socks.

Robbie, with the help of stylist Andrew Mukamal, has incorporated a number of archival looks into her press-tour wardrobe so far, including a strawberry-printed halterneck dress from Moschino’s spring 2019 collection. Meanwhile, at the Met Gala, the actor opted for a remake of the see-through corset gown that was first worn by Cindy Crawford as part of Chanel’s spring 1993 couture collection.
It’s clear that Robbie is having fun with her fashion right now, and why not? As Barbie costume designer Jacqueline Durran previously explained to Vogue: “Barbie really is interlinked with fashion, because how you play with her is by dressing her. Clothes are her form of expression.”
