Margot Robbie’s Latest Red Carpet Win Channels an ’80s Barbie
Margot Robbie has been an unstoppable fashion force during her Barbie press tour. The star has paid homage to the famously stylish doll she portrays onscreen in a variety of ways, whether with a beachy gingham Prada look on the red carpet, or in a vintage Chanel travel outfit for the plane (both of them head-to-toe pink, of course). The star clearly understands the concept of Hollywood method dressing. For the film’s premiere in Seoul today, however, Robbie delivered a brand-new Barbie vibe all together. This time, she tipped her (actual) hat to an iconic iteration from the 1980s.
Styled by Andrew Mukamal, Robbie wore two different Versace looks for the red carpet that referenced the “Day to Night” Barbie, released in 1985. The original doll featured two outfits—the first ensemble a polished suit for day, the second a glitzy dress for night—and Robbie matched both moods perfectly. Her first, executive-realness look included a pink skirt suit with white lapels and a bowed blouse, finished with a bedazzled Judith Leiber phone bag (you know, like the huge cordless phones they used in the 1980s?). We don’t know what kind of office she’s headed to, but wherever she’s going, we want to work there, too!
