Manoj Desai’s terms agreed, ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness’ plays without ticket raise at Gaiety-Galaxy – Exclusive – Times of India

Manoj Desai refused to play Hollywood biggie ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness’ after they proposed to him to raise the ticket prices. The makers had approached him to increase the ticket prices by Rs 30 each. As the film gears up for release this Friday, the producers of ‘Doctor Strange’ have agreed to play the movie without any rise at all.

“‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness’ is being showcased on my terms in Gaiety and Galaxy. But the advance collection is very poor. We run theatres for the public and I will never increase the prices. If the producers feel that their movie is so good, then they want to increase the price and earn everything in just one day? It is a very wrong practice and if others are following this, they must reconsider it. We are being blackmailed into increasing prices and we are at their mercy,” revealed Manoj Desai, executive director, G7 multiplex and Maratha Mandir Cinema. Gaiety and Galaxy will showcase the film at Rs 140 for stalls and Rs 170 for balcony.

However, the producers are yet to decide on Manoj Desai’s terms for Maratha Mandir. He added “There is still some problem in Maratha Mandir as they want me to increase the ticket prices, but I am still sticking to my terms. They are going to take a call on my terms today, if it happens positively then it is for the best. They want me to increase Rs 30-40 per ticket, which is not agreeable to me. And I have got great support from Arun Nahar (managing director, G7 multiplex and Maratha Mandir Cinema).”

‘Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness’ is a superhero film starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange.
