Manipur: First meeting of unified command decides to provide security to farmers
Chief minister N Biren Singh told media persons on Monday in Imphal, “I chaired the Unified command meeting and we have decided that bunkers constructed anywhere in the state have to be destroyed. In vulnerable areas state forces and paramilitary forces will be deployed.”
He said, “For the agriculture purpose the government has decided to give more security personnel in five districts and its adjoining areas. For Kangpokpi and Churachandpur adjoining areas, Imphal East and Imphal west and Kakching around 2000 police personnel will be deployed additionally.”
He added, “Government has decided to open the school from Wednesday onwards from class one to eight.”
In the wake of a series of violence, a unified command structure was set up in the state.
At least one person was killed and two others injured by the armed miscreants while incidents of firing and burning of houses were reported from different districts of Manipur during the past 24 hours.Officials in Imphal said that intermittent firings between rival armed miscreants were reported in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday at Chinglangmei and Langza, Samulamlam block in Churachandpur district and one person was dead and another injured in these firing.On Sunday night armed miscreants fired from the abandoned Napat village and Tangjeng Ahallup areas of Bishnupur towards Khoubuk and Tangjeng Khunjao areas of Kakching district.
Another person was shot at when the suspected armed miscreants fired from the adjoining hills towards Phougakchao Awang Leikai and Kwakta villages in Bishnupur district on Sunday night.
On Monday, suspected armed miscreants fired from the adjoining hill range towards Leikinthabi and Chirik villages Imphal West district.
The armed miscreants also burned down some farm houses in the Chirik village.
