Manchester United fan filmed shouting abuse at substitute Jesse Lingard during first-half collapse

Jesse Lingard was on the receiving end of criticism from a Manchester United fan during Sunday’s heavy defeat to Liverpool – despite the fact he wasn’t even on the pitch.

United were humiliated by their rivals at Old Trafford, going four goals down before half-time and ultimately losing 5-0. 

The mood turned sour as Liverpool ran rampant and some of the united supporters started to take aim at the players.

Lingard was an unused substitute but that didn’t stop one fan directing some less than savoury words at him as he warmed up. 

A video was shared on social media of the incident, showing Lingard respond by reminding the man that he wasn’t even on the pitch.
