United legend Wayne Rooney has challenged Rashford to guide the club to more trophies
‘He can score a lot of goals but if he really wants to go to that level of which [Kylian] Mbappe and [Erling] Haaland are at he really needs to be the man to get Manchester United back to winning titles and I hope he can.’
United have failed to win the Premier League since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in 2013, with their last Champions league title coming in 2008.
One of the academy’s most successful graduates, Rashford has scored 123 times in his 359 senior appearances for the club after breaking into the first team in 2016.
He netted 30 in all competitions last season as United secured a place in the Champions League and the Carabao Cup in Erik ten Hag’s debut season.
Rashford only reported for pre-season training with the rest of United’s international players on Sunday so he missed Wednesday’s friendly win over Lyon at Murrayfield.
But he could return to action in Saturday’s opening US tour game against Arsenal in New Jersey.
