Mahima Chaudhry was the original choice for Rani Mukerji’s role in Hadh Kar Di Aapne, reveals director Manoj Agarwal – Times of India

Govinda and Rani Mukerji’s classic rom-com Hadh Kar Di Aapne recently completed 23 years of its release. The on-screen jodi of Govinda’s Raj and Rani’s Anjali was loved by all and their love and hate chemistry is still etched everyone’s heart and mind. However, many might not know that Rani was not the original choice for Anjali Khanna’s role in the film.
Director Manoj Agarwal recently opened up about the casting of Hadh Kar Di Aapne and revealed that originally Govinda and Mahima Chaudhry were supposed to be paired opposite each other in the film.

He told an entertainment portal that the initial publicity material had Govinda and Mahima but due to the latter’s dates issues, she couldn’t be a part of the film. He added that Mahima is his dear friend even today and he loves and admires her.

When Manoj was asked if he is planning to remake Hadh Kar Di Aapne in the near future, he confirmed that he is already the film’s script. He said that he is not afraid about being trolled because the remake won’t be a scene-by-scene copy. He added that the characters in the film will also be slightly different but the essence will remain the same.

Further into the conversation, Manoj was asked if Govinda and Rani will make a special appearance in the remake. He smiled and said, “Let’s see.” He said that he is in touch with both of them but not on regular basis.
