Talking about it in an interview with an entertainment portal, the filmmaker mentioned that nepotism is a ‘manufactured’ debate.However, he also feels that there is some truth to the industry’s tendency to make a successful production with insiders, so the doors are usually locked for the outsiders. He also added that this is exactly the reason why it has been historically observed that people who were usually inward-looking, close the doors for outsiders and sooner or later, suffocate and die. He also added that there is no denial that families keep the kingdom usually within the family that gets the maximum benefits.
Bhatt also mentioned that one belief is that why shouldn’t one pass on the assets to his/ her own family and another belief is, if this keeps on happening, then how will outsiders get a chance.
Mahesh Bhatt’s own daughter Alia in an interview, mentioned that there are many examples of star kids who don’t have a successful career as compared to others. She also mentioned that she hasn’t forced anyone to watch her films and they are free to stop watching them. Alia was massively trolled for this statement.
