Maharashtra govt sets up SIT to probe ₹12,024 crore BMC corruption case

The Maharashtra government has set up a Special Investigation Team to probe alleged corruption within the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India had earlier pointed out irregularities amounting to 12,024 crores in the expenses incurred by BMC between November 2019 and October 2022.

The SIT will function under the Mumbai Police Commissioner. Joint Commissioner Economic Offence Wing (EOW), DCP EOW and ACP EOW have also been included in the committee.
