Madhu Mantena-Ira Trivedi’s PASSIONATE LOVE STORY: Couple bares it all – Exclusive – Times of India

Well, for now, Ira and Madhu are living together at a cosy bungalow in Pali Hill as and when Ira who resides in Delhi is in the city. And you won’t find their place very easily, as it is hidden behind another structure that lies in its front.

Last Sunday, ETimes reached their love nest. Madhu was getting ready to go for Pamela Chopra’s chautha ceremony and Ira had deep-dived into national television for a yoga interview. However, both sportingly accommodated us and sat down for a chat.

Kick-starting the chain of events that made Ira and Madhu develop a very strong bond, Ira said, “Madhu and I have known each other for close to a decade and we feel blessed that we found each other again.”

Papa Trivedi and Mama Trivedi wanted their darling daughter to settle into matrimony with a builder/industrialist. So much so that they were even arranging her meetings with a few of them. “I met one of them and found him extremely boring. It was then that Madhu and I happened to meet through a common connection in Delhi. Post that, I invited him to a couple of my book launches and he even came to Delhi on a few occasions other than those launches.”

Phone bills may not have hurt them thereafter, but Madhu did get hurt when he proposed marriage to Ira. Maybe a bit too soon to her liking. Ira candidly reveals, “We were in a sort of relationship,” and then hastens to add, “But we were not a couple per se.” Alright, but why did she turn him down? “Background differences, cultural differences, he was from Bollywood, I didn’t even know what a producer means in film business.”

Continued Ira, “Things didn’t work out in version 1.0 but we are now in our 2.0 phase. I have changed as a person. I didn’t care anymore about social status and vanity. Credit for this goes to the spiritual path I took.”

After exactly 2 years, Ira was back in Madhu’s arms. And this time they knew that marriage was not far away. But destiny had other plans. COVID-19 struck and everything went into a mode of status quo. However, Ira and Madhu got engaged. Yes, you read it right. Ira and Madhu got engaged. FYI, it happened about 18 months ago.

Madhu’s father was not keeping well and the couple (Is Ira liking the word ‘couple’ now?) fixed March 8, 2023, as their wedding date. Destiny again had other plans, this time cruel ones. Madhu’s father breathed his last on March 8! “But by then, we had kept June 9 as the new date. Papa knew the new date and mind you, he was very happy.”

Ands as the love story comes to present tense, Madhu says, “My life was in turmoil. Various things had happened with my partners in Phantom Films. Many things had happened at Kwan. Ira helped me to maintain calmness, she made me a better human being and feel I became a very sedate and responsible person. I can’t imagine what my life would have been if she hadn’t come into my life, again.”

Ira reciprocates with true feelings, “Madhu has been a very encouraging man. I travel a lot due to my work. There are days when I can’t connect with him. He does not flinch an eyebrow.”

No resistance from parents? Ira thinks hard, before she says, “No, there wasn’t much resistance, at least not as much as I thought it would be.”

“Ira and my life is in 2.0 stage. 2.0 is cliched but…” says Madhu, and before he says anything further, both he and Ira start laughing together.

The couple that laughs together should stay together. Touch wood. We at ETimes wish Ira and Madhu marital bliss in advance and a very happy and long married life.
