Luminous Skin Took Center Stage at Balmain
Minimalist beauty, maximalist clothes was the approach Olivier Rousteing took for Balmain’s fall 2022 show. Staging his runway at Paris’s Carreau du Temple, it was Rousteing at his best, with classic silhouettes, some streetwear elements, and Balmain logos galore.
As for beauty, Rousteing wanted the focus to be on skin: Specifically, he wanted gorgeous, glowing skin, which came courtesy of Augustinus Bader. To prep, models were treated to deep tissue facial massages using the entire Augustinus Bader skin-care range, starting with The Cream Cleansing Gel, before going in with The Face Oil and finishing off with either The Cream, The Rich Cream or the just-launched Ultimate Soothing Cream, depending on the model’s skin type.
“It’s all about smoothing the skin, getting the blood moving, and stimulating circulation so that we can get that glow,” says facialist Jeanne Casimir.
After that, it was over to makeup artist Diane Kendal, who simply evened out the skin tone and overall complexion, applying concealer where needed and pressing highlighter onto the cheekbones to accentuate that already luminous glow. Really drawing on the natural beauty of each model, lashes were simply curled and lightly brushed with mascara, while lips were kept neutral—plumped and hydrated with Augustinus Bader’s The Lip Balm.
