LSU’s athletic department says it will ‘certainly ACCEPT’ invite to the White House

LSU says it will ACCEPT First Lady Jill Biden’s White House invite… after star Angel Reese blasted ‘joke’ idea of asking losers Iowa to the traditional NCAA winners celebration – and said they’d see the Obamas instead!

Louisiana State University’s athletic department will reportedly take up First Lady Jill Biden on her invitation to the White House – after the offer sparked outrage.

The First Lady caused anger when she floated inviting runners-up Iowa to the White House as well.

LSU star Angel Reese called the First Lady’s invitation to visit the White House to celebrate their title victory a ‘joke’ after she suggested the losers should be included in the festivities.

It is a longstanding tradition of only national champions being invited to the White House. The Lady Tigers defeated the Hawkeyes 102-85 in Dallas on Sunday.

However, the school’s athletic department has now said they will ‘certainly accept’ the invite, according to CNN

Reese admitted she was ‘bothered’ by the suggestion Iowa would be invited to the White House – and may skip the visit herself as a result.

Dr. Biden’s notion appeared to be shot down by her husband, President Joe Biden on Tuesday, but it struck a nerve with Reese.

Reese, who was honored as Most Outstanding Player, on Monday tweeted a link to a story on Jill Biden’s remarks. ‘A JOKE,’ Reese wrote, along with three crying-laughing emojis.

And she didn’t give a firm answer when asked by former NFL receiver Brandon Marshall if she’d attend the White House visit while speaking on I Am Athlete’s ‘Paper Route.’

‘We’re gonna see,’ Reese said. ‘I don’t know.’

‘If we were to lose, we would not be getting invited to the White House. Remember she made a comment about how both teams should be invited because of sportsmanship. I’m like, “Are you saying that because of what I did?”

‘Stuff like that bothers me because you are a woman at the end of the day, white, black, Mexican, it doesn’t matter. You’re supposed to be standing behind us before anything.’

Reese ignited controversy towards the end of the national championship when she taunted her opponents, mimicking the ‘you can’t see me’ gesture Caitlin Clark did earlier in the tournament and pointing to her ring finger.

Nonetheless, Clark said Tuesday that Reese shouldn’t be criticized, and hit out against the idea of Iowa going to the White House after she scored 30 points in the title-game loss.

‘I don’t think runner-ups usually go to the White House,’ she said on ESPN’s Outside the Lines. ‘I think LSU should enjoy that moment for them.’

President Biden tweeted Tuesday that LSU and Connecticut ‘showed us the best of what this country can be,’ in a message that seemed to imply Iowa would not be invited after all.

‘We can all learn a lot from watching these champions compete,’ the president said, ‘and I look forward to welcoming them at each of their White House visits.’

Following LSU’s victory, coach Kim Mulkey said she would go to the White House if the team, the Tigers, was invited.
