The LSU Tigers basketball program have a replacement in mind after the team fired head coach Will Wade.

Prior to the start of the NCAA Tournament, the LSU Tigers basketball program fired head coach Will Wade after it received a notice of allegations from the NCAA. Since then, Kevin Nickelberry stepped in on an interim basis. But as for who will be Wade’s official replacement, the university has a name in mind.

According to Jeff Goodman of Stadium, Murray State head coach Matt McMahon is “in the mix” for the LSU opening.

Goodman also notes in his tweet that the Tigers were looking at San Francisco Dons head coach Todd Golden, but he opted to take the Florida Gators head coaching job.

McMahon has been with the Murray State basketball program since 2011, where he spent four years as an assistant. In 2015, McMahon was promoted to be the head coach of the Racers. In his seven years as head coach, McMahon only had one losing season.

Overall, McMahon has a 154-67 record won four Ohio Valley Conference regular season titles and three OVC Tournament. Additionally, the Racers reached the NCAA Tournament three times, where they reached the Round of 32 twice.
