London police arrest 17-year-old for alleged link with GTA6, Uber data breaches
A hacking group called Lapsus$ has been creating a massive stir in the internet world for the last several months. The hacking group has targeted several tech giants, such as Samsung, Microsoft, and NVIDIA, in recent months. Earlier, the city police had arrested seven teenagers who were connected with these incidents of hacking.
Notably, one of the seven arrested teenagers was a 17-year-old boy from Oxford. The Oxford boy was arrested after other hackers leaked his address and name online. The boy used “Breachbase” and “White” as his online aliases. Reportedly, the boy had made around $14 million from cybercrimes. After that, there was a lull for a few months before the GTA6 leaks.
The GTA6 leaks created a ruckus in the gaming industry. Interestingly, ride-hailing titan Uber also suffered a cyberattack around the same time. Later, many hackers claimed on Doxbin that the GTA6 and Uber data breaches were done by the same Oxford boy who goes by the online aliases of “Breachbase” and “White.” However, the teapot uber hacker recently presented Uber Hack as a reference for “past work” while leaking the GTA6 videos on GTA Forums. It indicates that “Breachbase,” “teapot uber hacker,” and “White” can be the same 17-year-old teenager from Oxford. However, nothing official has come out in this regard yet.
