Liverpool have vowed to dish out lifetime bans to fans who threw coins at Man City manager Pep Guardiola during the Premier League clash on Sunday.
In the 53rd minute, City thought they had taken the lead when Phil Foden poked home from close range, before VAR overturned the decision for a foul by Erling Haaland in the build-up.
It’s been confirmed that in the aftermath, as Liverpool fans wildly celebrated the decision by Anthony Taylor, Guardiola was targeted by projectiles from the crowd.
In response to the incident, Liverpool have condemned the crowd trouble and pledged to ban the perpetrators for life.
A club spokesperson said: ‘We are aware of an incident involving objects being thrown into the technical area at today’s game.
‘This is totally unacceptable behaviour and not the standards of behaviour we expect at Anfield.
‘This incident will be fully investigated using CCTV and those found guilty will be punished, including a lifetime ban from Anfield and a possible football banning order.’

But VAR overturned the decision, leaving Guardiola and the City players exasperated
Regarding the incident, Guardiola said: ‘Next time they will do it better. They didn’t get me. They tried but didn’t get me. They got it on the coach years ago but not this time.’
The Spaniard makes reference to their Premier League encounter in 2018, where bottles were thrown at the City bus as they entered Anfield.
Foden’s disallowed goal proved to be a turning point in the match as Liverpool went and took the lead shortly after through Mohamed Salah, who sealed all three points for the hosts.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was also involved in drama at the game, as he was sent off by Taylor in the 86th minute.
The German was shown red after he argued with officials over their decision not to award a free-kick to Salah late in the game.
He currently stands to miss their next outing against West Ham on Wednesday night in the Premier League.
Following the feisty encounter, City remain second but drop pace on league leaders Arsenal, while Klopp’s side move into the top half of the Premier League table.
