Liverpool to make improved offer for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia after having £38m bid rejected, with Saints still holding out for £50m
Liverpool are preparing a revised offer of up to £45m for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia after their opening offer of £34m plus £4m was rejected.
Mail Sport reported on Tuesday that the Reds’ initial bid for Lavia had been knocked back by Southampton.
But with Jurgen Klopp keen to bring the 19-year-old to Anfield this summer, they are now set to return with an improved offer which could tempt St Mary’s into a sale following their relegation to the Championship.
Lavia, who only joined Southampton from Manchester City last year, is hot property this summer after impressing in his debut campaign.
As well as Liverpool, Chelsea also want to sign the midfielder in the summer transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp wants to sign another midfielder as he looks to strengthen his squad
It is believed Southampton are demanding around £50m for their young star, meaning Liverpool’s revised offer will leave them with a decision to make.
Lavia featured in 29 top flight games last season and was a shining light at St Mary’s, but was unable to keep the club in the Premier League.
The teenager now looks likely to leave this summer, with Liverpool hoping to secure his signature as they aim to bolster their midfield options.
Jurgen Klopp has already added Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to his ranks, but also lost several midfielders at the end of last season.
James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita all left when their contracts expired in June, and captain Jordan Henderson is on the verge of joining Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq.
Fabinho could also leave for the Middle East after talks with Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad.
This would leave Liverpool short in the middle of the park, and they have set their sights on signing Lavia to try and fill the void ahead of the new season.
