‘I hate international breaks,’ he said during Friday’s pre-match press conference. ‘Although, it helped from injury point of view.

‘Coaches have their own targets and very often think they have to do physical work with the players.

‘The break was not helpful, I would have loved to have played the week after [West Ham].’

The Merseysiders host an in-form Arsenal and could face them without captain Jordan Henderson and left back Andy Robertson.

The pair are both injury doubts and Klopp has admitted he will give them as much time as possible before making a decision on their selection status.

‘So, Hendo [Henderson] and Robbo [Robertson] have not trained with team yet,’ he continued.

‘They’re doing recovery and rehab stuff but they are pretty close and it’ll be a late decision [on their fitness].’
