Toss Ireland chose to bowl against Bangladesh

Ireland captain Andy Balbirnie decided to bowl after winning the toss in the first ODI against Bangladesh in Chelmsford. It was the first ODI in 24 years at the County Ground, where two matches during the 1999 World Cup were played.
Ireland made just one change to the side that played their last ODI in Sylhet. Josh Little took Matthew Humphrey’s spot in the XI.

Bangladesh brought in Shoriful Islam and Taijul Islam in place of the injured Taskin Ahmed and Nasum Ahmed. The team management has been rotating between left-arm spinners Taijul and Nasum in the last few series. Mustafizur Rahman however failed to make it to the playing XI.

The two teams played their first ODI series in 13 years in March, which Bangladesh won 2-0 in Sylhet. The home side also won the T20I series and a solitary Test in Dhaka, before Ireland lost their maiden Test series in Sri Lanka 2-0 last month.
