Lighting’s Cooper says Point may be a game-time decision for Game 6
Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper is leaving the door open for star centre Brayden Point to return to the lineup in Game 6.
Speaking after an optional morning skate — in which Point was a full participant — Cooper said the 26-year-old might take the warm-up Saturday night and if he does, he’ll be “a game-time decision.”

Point was injured during Game 7 of the Lightning’s first-round series against the Maple Leafs when he took an awkward fall into the boards. Point couldn’t put any weight on his right leg after that and hasn’t appeared in a game since. He made his first return to the ice on June 1 and has been slowly building himself back up during practices ever since.
Point’s return would be a big boost for a Lightning team now only five wins away from a third consecutive championship. He had 28 goals and 58 points in 66 games this season and four points in seven games against the Leafs before his injury.
