Let’s Get Physical! Last Week, HermèsFit Came To Hollywood
If you walked past the Hollywood Athletic Club in Los Angeles over the past few weeks, you likely found curious passersby ogling the Hermès-orange build-out taking place. Since its doors opened in 1924, the storied fitness center has boasted members like Clark Gable, Errol Flynn, and Charlie Chaplin; but last week, the club was transformed into the West Coast installment of HermèsFit, a multi-day event that invited friends and followers of the house to break a sweat in a bespoke Hermès gym.
Vividly decorated in the house’s signature orange, the playful space featured custom Hermès barbells and kettlebells, a boxing ring complete with silk carré printed punching bags, and a climbing wall that doubled as a photobooth. There were fitness rooms tucked away, too, where the weekend’s yoga, stretching, and shadow boxing classes took place.
To kick off the festivities, the maison threw a buzzy cocktail party on Thursday night. As partygoers filtered into the room, the first order of business was exploring the impressing space with transfixing happenings at every turn. “Look over there!” one partygoer exclaimed as a referee blew a whistle, and two performers duked it out in a thumb war. Later on, lights strobed as a whistle blew again, and vigorous jumping jacks ensued on stage.
Once drinks were in hand, guests caught up on summer travels, challenged one another to a spirited game of ping pong, or found one of the countless photo ops the room provided. At some point, Neil Frances took the stage and the duo performed their reverberating dance tracks as partygoers gathered around the stage, or climbed onto the orange bleacher-inspired seating to sway back and forth to the music.
Guests included Victoria Pedretti, Rainsford Qualley, Syd the Kid, Nina Bloomgarden, and more. As the night went on, DJ group Ladies of Leisure kept the party going. Eventually, partygoers returned into the cool Angelean night, marveling at the beautiful orange HermèsFit signage decorating the Hollywood Athletic club one last time, some even vowing to return for a fitness class the next day.
