Leon Bridges’s New Tour Is Filled With Intentional Style
Singer Leo Bridges has been embarking on his Boundless tour throughout Europe since June, playing tracks from his 2021 album Gold-Diggers Sound. It’s his first time touring since the pandemic began, and Bridges says he’s very much missed being on the stage. “I missed being with my band and crew and the camaraderie we have on the road,” says Bridges. “The stage is where I come alive. I’m naturally an introvert, so that alone time [during the pandemic] was healing—but I missed touring. There’s nothing like being with the fans and connecting with them from the stage.”
With stops in major cities like London, Berlin, Paris, and Madrid, Bridges has been doing tons of sightseeing while traveling.“My favorite was probably the two nights in London, it was just a massive crowd,” says Bridges. “I also premiered [my song] ‘Chocolate Hills’ at Glastonbury with Khruangbin, and the response was great.” Bridges’s fashion choices on the stage have paid homage to the locations he’s playing in. He and stylist Gabriela Tena wanted to specifically support and spotlight local designers through his stage style.
At his London shows, for instance, Bridges wore a crisp white suit with pleating detail by Hong Kong-born, London-based designer Robert Wun. In Vigo, Spain, he also wore a black, embroidered western-style suit from Palomo Spain, the luxury Spanish label known for its fabulously flamboyant pieces. “I like supporting the up-and-coming brands and the underdogs, in all areas of my life,” Bridges says. For the star, taking an intentional approach to clothing is always important. “I love things that are well made, have character, and will stand the test of time,” he says. “Over the years, I’ve had the chance to work with many women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ designers, as well as sustainable, luxury, and heritage brands.”
