Leinster vs Knights, Ireland Inter-Provincial Twenty20 Trophy, 9th Match Match Details, Schedule, Summary | ESPNcricinfo.com

12:35pm The 12:30pm inspection has resulted in the first game of the day being called off. There is no chance of the ground drying out before the cut off time. So sadly we have a no result, both teams pick up 2 points and let’s hope that the sun comes out and starts drying the ground before the second game of the day start

Thanks for following along, this is Justin Smyth saying goodbye for now from Bready

11:30am The umpires have been out for their 11:30am inspection, the result is that there is going to be another inspection at 12:30pm. The groundstaff are out there working on the covers, so I guess that we wait for another hour then!

10:30am We should be having the toss right now, but the heavy overnight rain means that we are going to have a long delay here. It doesn’t help that there is more showers passing over the ground as we speak. The Umpires have already been out inspecting and will have another inspection in about an hours time. Going to be one of those days’s I’m afraid.

Morning Everyone, it’s Justin Smyth here for day two of the second Cricket Ireland IP20 festival here at Bready Cricket Club in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The first day of the festival certainly showed us all the weather that you can get here in the North-West of the Island of Ireland. Sometimes it was sunny, sometimes rainy, and sometimes both at the same time! The only thing predictable about the weather on this Isle is the unpredictability of it! Let’s hope that we have a better day today.

The Knights have so far had a tournament to forget. Their record stands as played four, lost four and sit bottom of the IP20 table with zero points. For a while yesterday, when McCollum and Pretorius were in the middle, it looked like their batting was finally starting to click. Yet a flurry of wickets and an understrength bowling display meant that the Warriors had a comfortable win. A win today against a strong Lightning team would certainly kickstart the rest of their campaign.

What a finish we had last night as the Lightning was involved in the first ever and hopefully only ever tie in the IP20. The Lightning restricted the Reds to only 7 runs off their final over, bowled by the excellent Josh Little. Would have been great to be able to settle the game with a superover, but with some confusion with the regulations meant that it never happened. Next time. Maybe. Although after being the first time to take any points off the Reds, you would think that they would be confident of taking all the points today

Yesterday was a very long day, I’d expect that today might be the same. There has been a lot of overnight rain, the covers are still on the pitch. The Umpires have already been out to inspect, it’s going to be a delayed start, how delayed depends on how the new drainage at Bready works. Will keep you in the know!
