Tsitsipas struck 17 winners and committed just six unforced errors to seal victory after 77 minutes. The 24-year-old has now won all three matches he has played at the Laver Cup, while he has improved to 4-2 in his ATP Head to Head series against Schwartzman.

Earlier, in the first match, Casper Ruud ensured Team Europe made a winning start, edging Team World’s Jack Sock 6-4, 5-7, 10-7.

The World No 2 has now won eight of his past nine matches after advancing to his second Grand Slam final at the US Open earlier this month.
