Latest Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Trailer Reveals New Pokemon, First Tera Raid Events
The Pokemon Company has released a new trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet ahead of the games’ launch next week.
The trailer, which you can watch below, offers another look at many of the new Pokemon and characters you’ll encounter during your adventure across the Paldea region, with Ed Sheeran’s new song “Celestial” playing over the footage.
The trailer also offers a quick glimpse at what appear to be two different evolutions for Donphan, depending on which version of the game you’re playing: the prehistoric Great Tusk (in Pokemon Scarlet) and the futuristic Iron Treads (in Pokemon Violet). How these forms will be obtained remains unclear, however.
Every trailer for Scarlet and Violet thus far has featured at least one new Pokemon. More than a dozen brand-new Pokemon have been revealed to date, including the ghost puppy Greavard and the coin-collecting Gimmighoul. The latter made a surprise appearance in Pokemon Go this past weekend after the Dratini Community Day Classic event.
In addition to the new trailer, Scarlet and Violet’s first Tera Raid Battle events have been announced. The inaugural event will take place Nov. 24 to Nov. 27 and will feature Eevee with various Tera types. The second event will feature Charizard with a dragon Tera type. This one will occur during two windows: first from Dec. 1 to Dec. 4, then again from Dec. 15 to Dec. 18.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launch for the Nintendo Switch on Nov. 18. Purchase one of the games before Feb. 28, 2023, and you’ll be able to receive a special Pikachu. This particular Pokemon knows Fly — a move it typically can’t learn — and becomes a flying type when it Terastallizes.
Ahead of Scarlet and Violet’s launch, Splatoon 3 is hosting a Pokemon-themed Splatfest. The event runs Nov. 11 to Nov. 13, and the theme is which type of Pokemon partner you prefer to choose when setting off on a Pokemon adventure: grass, fire or water?
