In Chennai, the price of petrol is Rs 107.45 (increased by 76 paise) & diesel is Rs 97.52 (increased by 76 paise) and in Kolkata, the price of petrol is Rs 111.35 (increased by 83 paise) and diesel is Rs 96.22 (increased by 80 paise).
The retailers are raising prices to bridge under-recoveries that are estimated to have risen to Rs 20-22 when global benchmark oil, Brent, hit $139 per barrel on March 7.

China’s financial hub of Shanghai reported 5,298 asymptomatic COVID-19 cases and 355 symptomatic cases for March 30, the city government said on its official WeChat account on Thursday. That compared with 5,656 new asymptomatic cases and 326 new cases with symptoms reported a day earlier.
Moscow announces Mariupol ceasefire today to evacuate civilians
The Russian defence ministry announced a local ceasefire on Thursday to allow civilians to be evacuated from Ukraine’s besieged port city of Mariupol. A humanitarian corridor from Mariupol to Zaporizhzhia, via the Russian-controlled port of Berdiansk, would be opened from 10 am (0700 GMT), the ministry said.
