Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss have eyes for big-time transfer QB, set for visit

Lane Kiffin needs a new quarterback to keep Ole Miss rolling forward and he’ll get a chance to land a big one with USC transfer Jaxson Dart set to visit.

Who will follow in Matt Corral’s footsteps at Ole Miss? Lane Kiffin is doing everything he can to figure that out right now.

The Rebels have hosted several transfer quarterback prospects including Dillon Gabriel and Cameron Ward while also reportedly pursuing Caleb Williams but so far they’ve struck out.

Now a new quarterback option has entered the fray: Dynamic USC quarterback Jaxson Dart, who entered the transfer portal on Monday as rumors swirled that Williams will join the Trojans to reunite with Lincoln Riley.

Jaxson Dart to visit Ole Miss as Lane Kiffin searches for QB

Dart is set for a visit to Ole Miss, according to David Johnson of 247Sports, along with Trojan tight end Michael Trigg, who was Dart’s roommate at USC.

Williams is the top available player in the transfer portal, as judged by 247Sports, but Dart is right behind him as one of the most coveted quarterbacks on the market.

Dart joined USC as a four-star prospect out of Utah. His sensational senior season in high school propelled him to No. 69 overall in the class of 2021.

When injury knocked starter Kedon Slovis out of the Washington State game, Dart took over and threw four touchdowns in an outstanding performance. However, he also suffered a knee injury and missed the next four games.

USC used both Slovis and Dart in the latter half of the season until Dart took over full time because of another Slovis injury. He finished the year with 1,353 yards, nine touchdowns and five interceptions. He scored two more touchdowns on the ground.

Dart is still raw but he fits the kind of quarterback Kiffin is looking for with mobility and a big arm.
