The artistic dresser, who once cocooned herself in a Hussein Chalayan egg for three days, engaged goth-girl mode in LA last night as she partied with Dom Perignon.
Showing the champagne brand what modern Morticia glamour looks like, Gaga wore an off-the-shoulder LBD with ripped tights and her signature Pleaser stripper boots. With her foundation intentionally two shades paler, her eye make-up heavy and her hair parted into antennae tendrils, the vibe was cyber punk meets bedraggled Hollywood pin-up. Even her elbow-length gloves were leather.
Gaga’s dark take on cocktail hour chimes with her tour load of avant-garde looks, from Gareth Pugh tailoring inspired by the designer’s fall 2008 collection to spunky harnesses from Hon Atelier, LTZ biker leathers dating back to 2011 and custom lace bodies by Dead Lotus Couture. If her fashion was unabashedly tough, Gaga herself was sentimental about her collaborators, thanking hat-maker extraordinaire Stephen Jones, paying homage to Lee Alexander McQueen and shouting out Daphne Guinness, who let a young Gaga run riot in her wardrobe when she first came to London.
