‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ box office collection day 6: Aamir Khan starrer spirals downwards with just Rs 2 crore – Times of India ►

Aamir Khan starrer ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ recorded a huge drop on Tuesday. It was earning in the Rs 7-8 crore range during the extended weekend period, but post the holidays, the film crashed badly.

Directed by Advait Chandan, this film is adapted from Hollywood biggie ‘Forrest Gump’. ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ earned Rs 2 crore on Tuesday, with its six day collection adding up to Rs 48 crore nett. Because of this huge dip, the film fell short of the 50 crore mark even on Tuesday. Going by the present trend, at the end of its extended first week, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ is expected to rake in around Rs 53-54 crore nett. The film has performed very well in Punjab, while it had been a total opposite scenario in Gujarat.

While ‘Laal Singh Chadha’ is underperforming at the box office, Aamir Khan had previously shared that he is not too keen to release the film on OTT. Hoping for a six-month gap, Aamir had told IANS, “One of the reasons primarily I think the curiosity of going to theaters has reduced because films come on OTT right after they come in theaters, they come on OTT very fast. So I have always tried to keep a 6-month gap for my films. I don’t know what the industry follows, but I like to keep a 6-month gap. So that’s what I tried to do for all my films and up till now, we have managed that.”
