‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ box office collection day 1: Aamir Khan starrer earns Rs 11.50 crore – Times of India

Aamir Khan starrer ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ hit the screens on the festive occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The film clashed with Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Raksha Bandhan’ and the first day collection suggests that Aamir’s film has scored below expectations.

Directed by Advait Chandan, this film is adapted from Hollywood blockbuster ‘Forrest Gump’. The film pocketed Rs 11.50 crore on its first day at the box office, reports Boxofficeindia. This figure is low considering the expectations are always high from an Aamir Khan film. ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ has excelled in Delhi NCR, Gurgaon and East Punjab circuits. The film has done decent business in the South belt too, but it has not exactly over-performed there. While the business in Mumbai and Pune is low with less moolah coming in from the mass pockets. The holiday factor has added positively to the business of ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’.

Aamir Khan is keen that ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ should release on OTT only six months after its theatrical release. Speakking about the same, he had told IANS, “One of the reasons primarily I think the curiosity of going to theaters has reduced because films come on OTT right after they come in theaters, they come on OTT very fast. So I have always tried to keep a 6-month gap for my films. I don’t know what the industry follows, but I like to keep a 6-month gap. So that’s what I tried to do for all my films and up till now, we have managed that.”
