Kyren Wilson makes 147 break at World Snooker Championship
Kyren Wilson makes only the 13th 147 break in Crucible history to pocket a £40,000 bonus as he joins Ronnie O’Sullivan, Stephen Hendry and Jimmy White on illustrious list of maximums
- Wilson pocketed 15 reds, 15 blacks and all the colours for 13th Crucible 147
- He earned a £40,000 bonus and could land further £15k for highest break
Kyren Wilson has joined the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, Stephen Hendry and Jimmy White on an illustrious list of snooker players to have compiled a maximum 147 break at the Crucible.
Englishman Wilson, 31, potted 15 reds, 15 blacks and all the colours to achieve only the 13th total clearance at the Sheffield venue.
In doing so, the world No 7 pocketed himself £40,000 prize money for the 147 break and, if the feat isn’t matched in the remained of the World Championship, a further £15,000 for the highest break.
Wilson hit the break in the first session of his opening round match against Ryan Day, who was the first to congratulate him with a handshake.
The Crucible crowd cheered and gave Wilson a standing ovation as he punched the air in delight after sinking the final black.

Nine different players have hit 147 breaks at the Crucible, which has hosted the World Championship since 1977.
The first was Cliff Thorburn in his second round match against Terry Griffiths in 1983.
O’Sullivan has three entires on the list, including the fastest in just five minutes and eight seconds against Mick Price in 1997.
Seven-time world champion Hendry also has three Crucible 147 breaks, with the last before Wilson’s coming from Australian Neil Robertson against Jack Lisowski in the 2022 second round.
John Higgins, Ali Carter and Mark Williams have also achieved Crucible maximums.
Dennis Taylor said on the BBC: ‘What a magnificent maximum break that is, handshakes all round.
‘A standing ovation here in the Crucible Theatre. What a break that was from the ‘Warrior’, Kyren Wilson.’
Wilson was 5-3 ahead against Day at the end of the morning session.

On the other table, Jack Lisowski closed on a place in the last 16 as he took a lead of 9-4 into the mid-session interval against Noppon Saengkham.
Saengkham resumed 6-3 down, but opened up morning session with fine long red, but both players then missed the chance to wrap up what was a scrappy frame before Lisowski finally finished off on the colours.
The Thai qualifier then edged the next 68-61 on a respotted black.
Saengkham promptly lifted his cue in the air with both hands to mimick the celebration of Dennis Taylor from his memorable 1985 victory over Steve Davis in a nail-biting last-ball decider.
Lisowski, though, responded with a break of 65 to take the 12th frame and the next to move to the cusp of victory heading into the mid-session interval with a lead of 9-4.
