Kylian Mbappe STARTS for PSG just 10 days after World Cup final heartbreak with France

Kylian Mbappe starts for PSG in his first game back since World Cup heartbreak with France in Qatar. 

The French talisman returns for his club as they take on Strasbourg at the Parc des Princes in their first match since the World Cup break saw Ligue 1 put on hold, with the 24-year-old returning to training 64 hours after the showpiece final. 

Mbappe scored a hat-trick and buried his penalty in the shoot-out as Les Bleus fell to a Lionel Messi-inspired defeat against Argentina in the World Cup final in Qatar just ten days ago.

The World Cup golden boot winner is straight back into the side, but team-mate Messi misses out after celebrating Christmas with his family back in Argentina. 

It had initially been reported by L’Equipe that Mbappe was in line for a quick return to the action for Les Parisiens, and the prediction has now been confirmed by PSG boss Christophe Galtier after his inclusion in Wednesday’s starting XI.

Brazilian star Neymar also comes straight into the fold fresh from a disappointing quarter-final exit on penalties to Croatia. 

The Frenchman was back in training 64 hours after becoming the second hat-trick scorer in World Cup history

He will look to put his side’s poor showing and the ignominy of not taking a penalty in the shoot-out against Croatia behind him and continue his fine form for his club so far this season. 

The 30-year-old has 15 goals and 12 assists in 20 games in all competitions so far for the French giants.  

Fellow World Cup heroes Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Fabian Ruiz and Carlos Soler also make the cut to take on Strasbourg and help extend their side’s lead from Lens at the top of Ligue 1.
