The wife of NRL star Kyle Feldt has spoken out after he was bombarded with vile messages of hate on social media.

Deanna Feldt witnessed horrific online abuse aimed at her husband over the weekend following the North Queensland Cowboys’ shock 26-12 to the New Zealand Warriors.

Feldt’s opposite winger scored two tries in Saturday’s round three clash sparking frustrated fans to lash out at the 31-year-old.

Ms Feldt said her business page even received comments suggesting her husband should ‘end his life’.

‘I have had enough on behalf of every player and staff member, on behalf of every team, from every league of sport, from every loved one who is subjected to hurtful words and actions for their performance on the field,’ she wrote on social media.

‘These are real people who have real feelings. They make mistakes, they are human. They are out there trying their best.’

Ms Feldt said that players held themselves accountable for any errors they made on the field.

‘Do you think any of them want to make an error to then be criticised on every media platform and have it replayed and commented on a million times,’ she said.

‘They hold themselves accountable, the coaching staff hold them accountable, the team hold each other accountable.’

Ms Feldt encouraged fans to ‘build up’ the players rather than ‘putting them down’.

North Queensland chief executive Jeff Reibel said the Cowboys would launch an investigation to identify and ban the troll behind the horrific attack.

‘Our club has a zero tolerance policy to any kind of abuse of our players,’ Reibel said.

‘The online abuse aimed at Kyle Feldt following last night’s game was vile and abhorrent’.

Reibel said if the person was found to be a Cowboys member, their membership would be ‘cancelled.’

NRL CEO Andrew Abdo agreed the abuse levelled at Feldt was reprehensible.

‘I commend any player or those close to them who speak out against the faceless cowards who abuse people on social media,’ Abdo said.

‘There is more work we need to do to address a societal challenge that impacts all of us, especially young people, referees and players.’
