Knights vs Leinster, Ireland Inter-Provincial Twenty20 Trophy, 15th Match Match Details, Schedule, Summary | ESPNcricinfo.com

12pm Bad news I’m afraid, the Umpires have just completed their 12pm inspection and the ground is just not drying. They have had a chat with the Captain’s to tell them the bad news. Both teams pick up 2 points for the abandonment. Let’s hope that we can still get the afternoon game in. Until then, this is Justin Smyth saying goodbye from Comber

11am. The Umpires have been out and had a good look around the ground, there are a number of areas of concern in the outfield. They are going to have another look at 12pm. To fit in a 5 over bash, we need to be getting underway by 1:30pm. Would be nice of the wind could pick up a little to help the drying process.

10:15am The Umpires have been out to inspect the ground, the result is that they are going to inspect again at 11am. The good news is that the sun is starting to break through the clouds. Let’s hope that it can help out the drying. Only time will tell..

Good morning and welcome to ESPNCricinfo’s coverage of day two of the Cricket Ireland Interpro ‘s festival here at North Down CC in Comber. After yesterday’s weather affected day, It’s Justin here again and I’m glad to say that the forecast is a lot better for today, and I’m very hopeful that I’ll be spending more time today talking about cricket then I will be talking about the weather!

With the Warriors still clear at the top of the table, today’s game is a must win for both teams. The Lightning are the defending champions and are sitting in second place in this year’s table, although yesterday’s wash out did them no favours as they would have fancied their chances against the Munster Reds.

After their game against the Warriors was called off yesterday, the Knight’s know that if they want to win the title, nothing less than two wins in their remaining games will do. With their Ireland stars available, they will probably go into today’s game as slight favourites.

George Dockrell has some key players missing, Andy Balbirnie is being rested after the Zimbabwe series, Peter Chase is still injured, Josh Little and Simi Singh will only be available for two games over the weekend. Although it does give some of the younger players a chance to shine.

Play is due to get underway at 10:30am, although with the heavy rain yesterday, the outfield is still damp. We have to hope the the Sun can burst through the clouds soon to help the drying. It’s certainly going to be a delayed start. Will let you know when I get more news…
