KFC Fan Travelled The World For 18 Years To Find The Best ‘Finger Lickin’ Fried Chicken

Eighteen years, 24 countries and more than 1000 KFCs later, Jacky Tan has emerged as the biggest KFC fan there has ever been. If you thought you were the one, you definitely can’t beat him. The 41-year-old marketing consultant from Singapore fell in love with the crispy fried chicken of KFC but realised that the original chicken recipe tasted different in different places. And so his quest began to find the best country that serves the best KFC. He spared no effort in his pursuit of the perfect fried chicken, and it paid off as he did find it!

Independent reported the entire journey of Jacky Tan’s mission. For 18 long years, Jacky Tan kept his love for KFC alive and kicking. He travelled to 24 countries spread over 5 continents to search for the world’s most finger-lickin’ good Kentucky Fried Chicken. Whether he travelled for work or pleasure, he made it a point to eat at the local KFC, even in Spain where he went for his honeymoon. Unfortunately, the KFC in Spain disappointed him the most as he labelled it “the worst”.

Interestingly, Jacky developed his own ranking system, TaF-CA, which assessed the taste, freshness, crispiness, and aroma of each KFC he had. After having tried KFC in every country he had travelled to, he was armed with a refined palate combined with insatiable hunger when he found what he had been looking for – the best-fried chicken. The country that stood head and shoulders above the rest was Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

“I visited the KFC in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, in 2013 during a business trip with my colleagues. It had just opened and there were loads of people queuing so we had to wait for an hour. But the wait was totally worth it,” Independent quoted Jacky Tan.
