Kate Middleton Wears Leopard Print, the Royal Way
When it comes to fashion and beauty, Kate Middleton has been taking more risks lately—although perhaps risks should be put in inverted commas. The royal had the audacity to debut a bright-red manicure while attending Easter mass at Windsor Castle earlier this year, resulting in much pearl-clutching from more conservative royal style pundits, and has been swapping out her Catherine Walker coatdresses for far more interesting pieces (take the 1995 vintage Chanel bouclé blazer she wore for an outing at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in December).
For a meet-and-greet in Nuneaton on Thursday, Kate once again threw us a style curveball, wearing a Cefinn Petra dress that, at first glance, appeared to be floral print—as much a signature of the Duchess’s wardrobe as polka dots. Look more closely, though, and the shirt dress, which retails for $493, is in fact leopard print. It’s an unusual choice for the notoriously cautious, apolitical Kate—both in terms of the pattern and the designer; Cefinn is, of course, a label masterminded by Samantha Cameron. Her accessories, on the other hand, constituted firm favourites: a pair of white stilettos by Jimmy Choo and a Mulberry bag.
