Kate and William Share Their First Christmas Card as the Prince and Princess of Wales
While the world waits for the second drop of Harry & Meghan, the royal family has released an altogether more festive announcement to delight the press: a Christmas card. Make what you will of the timing of the Wales’s new photograph, but William and Kate have painted the picture of familial harmony just before the holidays.
Less Netflix, more Norfolk, their royal highnesses—including Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte—were captured by photographer Matt Porteous during a walk on their country estate, all five holding hands in a line. The message aside from those glad tidings? The Wales clan, who never present anything but a united front, is keeping calm and carrying on.
The card offers a glimpse of Kate at her most relaxed after several glamorous appearances in recent weeks; in the image, she’s casually dressed in jeans and white trainers, while the children, who stole the nation’s hearts with their animated expressions and enthusiastic singing during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, beam in between the prince and princess. This might be the first Christmas without the Queen, but the family is staying true to the traditions Her Majesty put in place and retaining the quiet stoicism she was known for in the face of bumpy news cycles. A very merry Christmas from the Wales household indeed.
