Kate and Lila Moss Had a Mother-Daughter Moment on the Met Gala Red Carpet
This year has already been a significant one for Lila Moss. She appeared on the cover of British Vogue for the first time on the May 2022 issue, and tonight she made her debut at the Met Gala, wearing an embellished nude look by Burberry and accompanied by her mum, Kate Moss. It was quite the entrance.
“My look is modern and feels young while still being elegant and chic,” Lila told Vogue ahead of her big moment. “The nude palette is classic Burberry, and the embellishments give it that extravagant edge which I think really stands out.” Fashion is in her DNA, so Lila has grown up watching one of the most fabulous nights of the year play out from a distance (asked to name her favorite Met Gala look to date, the model says it “has to be” Cher’s Bob Mackie look). Now, she takes her own place on the museum steps.
The fashionable power duo had a mother/daughter moment on the world’s most-watched red carpet in their contrasting outfits, with Kate opting for an understated black tuxedo dress for the occasion. Both were dressed by Burberry creative director Riccardo Tisci, who also hosted Naomi Campbell, Irina Shayk and Stormzy at the benefit.
Kate, of course, is a long time Met Gala attendee, with a track record of turning out stellar looks for the occasion. Who could forget the Marc Jacobs minidress and matching turban? The perfectly understated lemon Calvin Klein dress she wore in the ’90s? Or that time she arrived wearing one of her own designs for Topshop in 2006. Wearing high street to the Met Gala—a move only Mossy could pull off.
