Karni Sena demands that Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj title be changed to Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan -Exclusive! – Times of India

Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj is about to release in less than 2 weeks and a little time ago, the Karni Sena, which had opposed the film’s title before had expressed that they had seen the film and were content with the portrayal of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. The latest development in this situation is that the Karni Sena is now demanding a title change. As of their latest correspondence, the Karni Sena wants the film’s producers and director to add the word Samrat to the film’s title. They want the film title of the film to be Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan.

Surjeet Singh Rathore, from the Karni Sen spoke to ETimes stating, “We have met Akshaye Widhani, the CEO of Yash Raj films and they have promised to make the change to the title. They have agreed to honour our demand.” ETimes did some independent coordination on the matter with the film’s makers and while Yash Raj representatives were unavailable for comment, certain sources from the film industry informed us that they were unware of any development surrounding the change in the film’s title.

ETimes shared this update with Rathore who reacted and said, “If they don’t make the change and don’t hold a screening of the film, Prithviraj will not release in Rajasthan.” Taking up a serious tone, Rathore further added, “We have already warned the exhibitors of Rajasthan about the same. If the title of the film does not change to Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, we will not allow them to show the film in Rajasthan.”

Another round of coordination with certain exhibitors and distributors from Rajasthan revealed that they too had no communication on this title change situation as yet.
