With the promise of a possible ban on Bajrang Dal in its election manifesto being made a big election issue by BJP, the Congress has done an internal survey which says only a small section of people in Karnataka feel it is an election issue, party sources told PTI.They said according to the survey, only seven per cent of voters in Karnataka are even aware of what the issue is and “of this less than 10 per cent thought it was an election issue”. Congress sources did not give details of sample size, areas where it was done or the age group in which the survey was done.

BSP supremo Mayawati to campaign for Karnataka elections
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati will address an election rally in Karnataka on Friday for the upcoming state assembly elections, as per an official release. “Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on May 5, Friday, in support for the party candidates will be on the tour of Karnataka state,” the release said.The BSP leader will address a rally in the evening in the Palace ground premises, as per the release. After addressing the rally she will meet the party’s senior leaders and discuss the preparation for the upcoming assembly elections.Earlier in March this year, Mayawati had announced that the party will contest the Assembly elections in Karnataka.
Sonia Gandhi to address election rally in Karnataka on Saturday
Former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi would address an election rally in Hubballi on Saturday, her first campaign meeting for the May 10 Assembly elections in Karnataka.The Congress candidate in Hubballi-Dharwad Central is former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, who joined the party after being denied ticket to contest the elections by the BJP. The BJP has fielded Mahesh Tenginkai in this segment.

Over Rs 4.5 cr unaccounted cash seized in poll-bound Karnataka
Unaccounted cash to the tune of over Rs 4.5 crore was seized from a villa in Bangarpet Taluk in poll-bound Karnataka, police said. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a car belonging to a realtor, in which cash was found in gunny bags. Upon searching the village, more cash was recovered. The money was meant to be distributed among voters for the May 10 assembly elections. Ever since the model code of conduct came into force in the state on March 29, seizure worth Rs 331 crore has been made, which includes Rs 117 crore cash, Rs 85.53 crore worth gold and Rs 78.71 crore worth liquor.
