Karan Johar reveals how he got Vicky Kaushal on board for Govinda Naam Mera, shares hilarious video – Times of India

Think of Vicky Kaushal and his brilliant acting chops come to mind. Whether it was Masaan (2015), Raazi (2018), Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019) or Sardar Udham (2021), the actor has played some deep, intense roles on screen. However, producer and filmmaker Karan Johar was keen to get the actor on board for a “masaledaar” movie, and has now shared a fun video, where he is seen convincing Vicky for his next project, titled Govinda Naam Mera. The breezy, romantic comedy will directly release on Disney+ Hotstar now.

In the beginning of the video, Karan starts off by saying that Vicky, even though a brilliant actor has only portrayed serious roles on screen, further teasing him and saying “
Dukh tera khatam hi nahi hota“. He then convinces him to try something fun and spicy and that he wants to see #FunVicky.

The filmmaker then proceeds to sell the script of Govinda Naam Mera to the actor which seems to be about a common man named Govinda who is a junior background dancer. He seems to be in a lot of debt and his wife is having an affair. The only silver lining of his life is his girlfriend who he spends some quality time with.

At the end of the video, when Vicky is still not convinced, Karan gives him the option of choosing between Govinda Naam Mera and Student of the Year 3, leaving the 34-year-old dumbfounded!

Govinda Naam Mera is directed by Shashank Khaitan and stars Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani in lead roles opposite Vicky Kaushal.
