The actor has played the role of legendary cricketer Kapil Dev in the film while his wife Deepika Padukone has essayed Kapil’s wife Romi Bhatia’s role. Recently, Kapil Dev spoke about the film and revealed why he walked out of the theatre while watching the Kabir Khan directorial.

In an interview with Gourav Kapoor, the cricketer said that the first time he saw the, he was like ‘okay this is a film’. He said that It did not impact him. But the second time became very emotional. He said that he couldn’t believe that their lives have been transpired so beautifully on screen. All these years he thought ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ was the ultimate sports film but he was so touched with ’83.

He further revealed that he actually walked out of the theatre the third time. He recalled how he couldn’t stop crying while watching the film the second time. He added that he couldn’t watch it again. He said, ‘How long can you remember your childhood memories? Especially when you are with your teammates, you are reminded of all the things you did. Characters were changed, scenes were changed, but the story wasn’t changed.”

Kapil Dev was also seen praising Ranveer Singh for his solid performance. He added that his daughter said that the moment Ranveer steps out of the bus, she too was taken aback by the similarities.

’83 also starred Harrdy Sandhu, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Ammy Virk, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna and others. After a long delay due to the pandemic, it finally saw the day of light in theatres last year in December.
